hi gloss and eggshell finish will mix fine but the 2 finish's colours need to be compatible (if this makes any sense 2 ya) ...........eggshell and high gloss mixed together will give you a totally new finish/wall durability and the porportion tells ya more about wherther the finished mixture will be more like eggshell or high gloss.........again hope this makes sense as I relate it.

I mix paint too...but, as pointed out, they both have to be both latex or both oil....you can NOT mix oil and latex.

Yes, providing they are both a latex or both an oil, you can mix.

Your basic sheens of paint are flat, satin, semi-gloss, gloss. But some companies may have a few more with differnt gloss.

Your welcome.

I do it all the time. I will but the "oops" paint from home depot or lowes. Usually it is darker then I want...so I will then buy a cheaper white and mix it. Or sometimes I will find a few colors (say greens) I like...all different sheens...I buy them and mix them to get my new color! Most my house is painted like this! LOL

What is "oops" paint..... Is it a way to save money? As we're painting our house at this time, and looking for ways to save money on the paint. I'm not terribly picky with colors - Heck, I cant decide on one! lol

oops paint is paint the store made a mistake in mixing for a customer and the customer refuses it. It can be really cheap but usually there is only 1 gal of a color so you have to buy white and mix it.

I did this with my spare room after choosing a paint color that was too dark. Mixed in half a gallon of white and it lightened to the color I was looking for. You do have to mix it real well.

Yep, it is the stores "mess up" paint...they mixed it for a customer, and the custmoer refused it. Here, they sell it for $5 a gallon!

To mix it well...I pour 2 or 3 gallons in a clean 5 gallon bucket and just stir with a large paint stick...stir and stir and stir! LOL I always mix up more then I will need, as you can't just go to the store and ask for another gallon. Plus I like to have extra for touch up.
