Default what kind of spider has a diamond on its back?

That is what the one in my silk ivy on the front door looked like. The husband smushed it, but said it looked like it had a diamond on its back.

I tried to look at pictures to see what kind it was, but it was too gross. ack on spiders

The brown recluse has a fiddle shape. They hide in very dark places.
