Default How long should fresh green beans keep in the refrigerator ? Latest update in #15

On Saturday I bought fresh green beans from Albertsons Market . Today I was preparing them for dinner & most of them had black spots on them . I tried to salvage what I could but after looking them over I tossed them in the garbage ! When I have green beans from our garden they will keep in the refrigerator for a week or more . DH said they were probably grown in S. America & are old . I paid $1.99 lb. so I just tossed at least that much in the trash !

I doubt they were grown in SA. We are getting fresh beans from GA, and I am guessing CA has them as well.

I absolutely never keep fresh beans more than 24 hours after buying.

To be perfectly honest, I put them on the stove when I get home with them, or freeze them straight away. Fresh beans do not do well once picked.

I sent them an email on fb & got a reply . They asked the location of the store & how they can contact me , they are contacting the store manager . Also they guarantee their produce , so we'll see what happens .

After thinking it over those beans must have been picked many days ago & I shouldn't expect them to keep as long as my home grown beans .

I love fresh green beans - I usually clean and cook them while I'm putting the rest of the groceries away.

Most produce you find at the grocery store is at least 5 days old when you buy it which is one reason is usually doesn't last as long as home grown stuff. Sounds like these beans were older than that and probably had been allowed to warm up to room temp at least once

Whoops ! DH & I went to Albertsons this morning to pick up the gift card . I was asked how much was it for , I couldn't remember if it was for $20 or $25 & I told them that . They made it for $25 ! I looked back at the amount I had posted . I goofed ! It was suppose to be $20 but I did tell them I couldn't remember the exact amount .
