Default What would you serve with hambone and navy bean soup?

Besides a nice crusty bread? Anything? I've got a pot on the stove right now and the house is smelling good!

Cornbread made with Lamb's stone ground cornmeal. That's all I would need!

Love navy bean soup. I sometimes make pasta e fagioli, which is an Italian bean soup. Bean soups are so comforting. Someone on the board mentioned some time back about getting ham bones from one of the baked ham stores. I've been wanting to do that and make a pot of split pea soup.

what a coincidence. We're making 15 bean soup with the left over ham. LOL

For me, just soup and bread. That's it.

Just the bread...maybe a salad.

I'm new, I thought the bean soup thread would make a good starter post.

I opened the thread, earlier. My first thought was a lazy one: sliced tomatoes.
That, the soup, and the bread would be wonderful.

Thanks, all! My first thought was just bread too, CB...too lazy to make a salad, but fortunately for us, our neighbors will be joining us and she's bringing the bread and the salad. Score!

Love the cornbread idea for next time...

It's cold, gray, raining (surprise, surprise) so a comfort-food meal is definately in order. Thanks everyone!

And a very warm welcome to you, Chaitea. Glad you could join us.

I'm generally a stickler for (usually) green vegetable matter in every main meal.

Plus I like the contrasting texture and temp. of salad with soup.

If I didn't live on the other side of the world, I'd be there with dessert!

I have a pot of beans on the stove too. I always make cornbread and slice up an onion. Kyle wants fried potatoes tonight.
