Default How much candy do you give each trick-or-treater?

The candy is so expensive this year! I usually give each kid two of the little bars, because each bar is so small. At these prices, I don't know how long I can keep it up. We usually get a lot of kids.

Yes, it's definitely expensive. Can you arrange to go to someone else's house for a little party with your kids? There are just some years that I don't want to mess with it, although it can be fun.

Or, kids don't need that much candy, do they? They also tend to over-grab and fill whole pillow cases (at least they did at my other place). And it doesn't have to be chocolate.

My younger daughter is fifteen and usually goes out with her friends. I like giving out candy to neighborhood kids, and I don't mind giving it to the ones who travel because their own neighborhoods are bad for Trick-or-treating. I just wonder if giving only one bar is being cheap.

Giving one bar is not being cheap. I've never seen a kid gripe about it, but if I did I'd be tempted to snatch the candy back and tell him 'good luck at the next house'.

Maybe one bar and something else that is less expensive - Smarties, Tootsie Pops. . .

Yep that's what I do.

I start out that way and as it gets later I hand out more candy, just to make sure I don't run out.

Two snack size bars here too. I let them choose the kind they want since we have a variety. I just tell them "You can take two."

We don't have trick or treaters here, so we don't give out any, but we do buy at least one bag for ourselves.

I used to be very generous with my candy passing but I'm just giving out one bar at a time this year. Some of my adjoining neighborhoods are having different trick or treat days so I'm expecting a large influx of kiddos! Some are tonight but ours is on Saturday.

1 or 2 bars is about all I can see giving out. I'm not feeling good about being alone this yr giving out candy, maybe I have a premonision (sp) or something I don't know.

Just one bar, last year we had over 700 kids, this year we're planning for about 900 just so we don't run out.

We don't have any come to our house. We live between 2 Baptist churches and they both have fall things that keep the children off the road

Ours is Saturday this year...all neighboring towns are Sunday. I have a feeling we are going to have a ton more trick or treaters this year. Still not sure what I am buying to know how much I am giving out.

Lastyear my SIL, it was her first time here in the states...but she thought I was being stingy with the candy...I handed out a few pieces of whatever. She was handing out huge handfuls. I told her no, we can not do that, we will run out. She was shocked at how many kids we had come thru here.

Usually give out two unless I start running low then I will give one. I bought my candy when it was on sale.
