Default How often do they read your electric meter?

Com Ed here told me by law they're require to do so twice a year.

I haven't been paying a lot of attention to my electric bills until I got this last one for Aug and it was exceptionally high, then I went back and I noticed all the bills have been est since Mar.

BTW - I'm not on a budget plan.

So I called cust serv and I told them I thought this current bill was ridiculously high -- they took my current meter reading and the new reissued bill was for $70.00 less!
They said it all balances out once the meter is read, but in the mean time, they're getting money now that may be credited back in the future.

I found out I have the option of calling in/going online my monthly meter readings which I plan to do.

We have smart meters that report to the energy co.. There was a lot of confusion when they were first installed.

Monthly, I guess they are called Smart Meters. Some one from the power company drives slowly through the neighborhood and gets readings without going on any private property.

Before those meters were installed I got a postcard from the power company every month so I could read it myself. They only came out if the reading looked odd or if the name on the bill was going to be changed.

Was monthly, then they installed new meters that do not require them to come out.

Once a month. They will estimate if they cannot get in to read the meter.
