Default Does fabric softener ever go bad?

I've got a bottle of Downy that I'll bet is at least 6 or 7 years old, possibly more than that. I wonder how much it cost way back then?

That's pretty old. How does it smell?

Probably just a little less effective - I've used dishwashing detergent that was that old and probably had to use a bit more, but so what? - it's paid for and the money wasn't wasted.

Now there could be a problem....what happens if you really like it and know it will never be again?
