Default Would You Have The Nerve...

to alter De Gournay wallpaper?

ID Jeffrey Bilhuber's bedroom:

In Jeffrey's bedroom De Gournay wallpaper has been given an irreverent splash of gold-resin paint by artist Nancy Lorenz. Nearby, a dramatic peacock called George stands atop a fluted pedestal. A noir needlepoint covered chair is often a repository for bedtime reading. More family photos, spare change and other necessities are arranged atop a Gustavian chest of drawers. Whimsical prie dieu chairs with elaborate bullion fringe are positioned at the bottom of the master bed. Pratesi linens and a Guanaco skin bedspread purchased from Nina Griscom and reconfigured by Dennis Basso covers Jeffrey's custom bed. A splash of gold-resin by artist Nancy Lorenz adds a shot of energy to the corner of Jeffrey's bedroom.'Light' bedtime reading is positioned atop an English triple-tier table with a clever cut-down edge for spilled glasses.

No. I don't think I would. However, it isn't my room.

I guess if I had the money for De Gournay wallpaper, Pratesi linens and a Guanaco skin bedspread, I would be comfortable altering them to suit my taste.

Nope. I'd leave the wallpaper as is and change every bit of the furniture and the carpet.

My thought, exactly. And, banish the peacock.

I thought you were going to say would you have the nerve to live with a taxidermy peacock in your bedroom. My answer would have been no!

As for painting on expensive wallpaper- yes I would have the nerve, but I am not sure in this case it was very beneficial. I think i might like the gold paint squiggles better on a plain white wall.

And also, what is going on with that bed? Is the bedspread missing or something?

The way the gold paint is presented feels like the pretentious side of the art world. They slopped gold paint on the walls.

I like the whimsy and motion of the gold line, but it gets lost. I think it would be more dynamic to focus more on it.
