Default My ds wrecked his truck yesterday

My ds was coming home from school yesterday and somehow sideswiped a tree. He had just come to a 4-way stop and turned right. The tree was just about 100 feet on the right. He wasn't texting, or on the phone, thank God, but he just let his mind wander. He had just had a bad day at school, and I believe he was shaken up pretty bad.

He is just fine, was able to drive it home, but the whole right side is demolished! He had to catch the twinkie today. That was not to his liking, but I don't know how we are going to pay for this, and he can't get a job without a way to get there, and I refuse to carry him to a job everyday.

Oh, the fun of having children!

So glad that he wasn't hurt...

If it's still drivable, I'd say, just let him drive it. There are a bazillion cars on the road down here that have been smashed and crashed and are still being driven. A beater is better than no car/truck at all!

If he has to drive it while he's making money to fix it, it'll hopefully keep him focused and on the road. I've had a nice boo-boo on my truck for years now because I've not had the money to fix it (well, the boys would have, but Joe wouldn't let them... and then I'd have a big Bondo spot...). Sometimes you have to work with what you've got.

Yeah, ain't kids just a barrel of monkeys? Gotta' love 'em! (*"*)

First, glad he is ok. Second, welcome to the joys of parenthood! I would assume insurance would cover it, minus your deductible, right? Is he under your policy? Or his own?

My dh doesn't want to turn it in to insurance, it will raise his rates significantly! I guess we will help him fix it and he is going to work and pay us back. DH is a very good mechanic, and does all his own car work. His best friend runs a repair shop. He will paint the parts and then dh and ds will put it back together again... Until then, he will ride the bus to school.
