Default House of the day! Shudder.

This looks a lot like our home when we bought it, deeply discounted already, we offered way less and got it. We were the first offer in 8 months, and only seven people had been to see it in that time. The curb appeal was HORRIBLE. Inside was worse. Like these pictures, actually.

Ugly as a mud fence inside, but the bones are great, and we've worked to de-80 it. Still have a way to go, but the end is in sight.

Even as dated as that is I would live with that a thousand times over this current place. That does not mean it could not use some updating.

For some time now I have thought some people may be okay with what they have, maybe they are comfortable with an older style and feel no real reason to update things if they like it and or if it is still functional. I am just waiting to hear how dated all of today's designs are in the future, like the shows where every single person wants the same exact thing.

Our home is a collection of things we feel comfortable with & family heirlooms , sort of electic I guess . I don't feel the need to change any thing just to keep up on styles, etc .

There is no need to change just for the sake of changing, and I wonder how these things go over time, like lets say a couple that are ninety years old, I wonder if after any given amount of time that one may stop caring (if they ever did) about what is current, if something still works they keep it, if their drapes are forty years old and work and enjoyed it does not matter.

The style I am comfortable with is not something I think could get dated, it just is and I also would not care about that, we all should have what we like.

OMGosh, that house is a 1980's nightmare! However, the basic bones are definitely workable. I'd have someone go in and strip all the hideous decor out and then I could really do something nice with the place. Normally I do demolition myself but I may be allergic to 30 year old, hideously ugly decor.

My house was built in 1936. We've put back some of the kind of details you would find in an older home...wainscoting in the kitchen for one, opening up a pantry that was closed off (what were they thinking???)

That 80s house....has good bones, I love the open feeling and views. With some paint, furniture of your choice (and getting rid of that bar thingie) you could have a really beautiful home. Oh yeah...there has to be some trees in that barren landscape for sure.

Has great possibilities.
Somebody must like gazing at themselves, lots of mirrors.

Love it! Lots of cosmetic work to do but good house and location. I did notice all the mirrors too.

The 70s were all about earth tones. Much easier to live with than peach and mint green!

60's = mid century modern. VERY popular once again. I would go that route myself, in a heartbeat, but DH can't stand it. I'm still working on him though

Our entry still has the original flooring (squares of green & brown), master bath has gold flooring , office has white brick design flooring .

Yes - that is the most important.

Just looks like a lot of cosmetic blah. If the structure is sound, paint is cheap and they will be taking their furniture and the plastic-covered lamps with them.

I've never liked salmon pink! I'm sure someone could make the house very nice. Our house was built in 1976 and we've updated over the years.....especially the last 6. All the dark paneling, drapes, and wallpaper are all gone! We've replaced carpet in the family room and bedrooms more than once, but I'm thinking that also needs to go! I don't care what's "in" or "out", I decorated to my liking. Hubby is satisfied with whatever I do in that regard, as long as he has his TV and a comfortable chair!
Our home is nothing fancy, but is very comfortable and fits our lifestyle....we love it!
