Default Woody Allen...

... is in SF making a new film. It will be a romantic comedy about a woman who moves here from NYC.

Earlier this week there was a cattle call for extras aka background. Spouse put in for it, but it's likely tons of folks will also submit for it. Spouse just saw him downtown so it looks like the film is underway.

oohh..look at you! I've "acting" credits, too, but not for Award winning work!

Just waiting for DH to get in - I think they were filming at Shrieve & Co or near it at Post & Grant.

They are filming the Nickalas Sparks novel, Safe Haven, here in Southport.

It's been a fun summer! We've run into stars nearly every time we go to town.

Very fun, Miss Priss.
DH was walking by and once he saw the production trucks, he knew what was happening. He snapped a few pics - of Woody, a group of extras and one of the actors. Dh is in that area almost daily, so we'll see who he sees in the coming days.

That hunk, Josh, that's married to Fergie is in the starring role and we've seen him and Fergie all over town.

He's let all the kids Lil Miss Priss's age take their picture with him, so that's been kind of cool.

You know, I would never have known if you didn't say something. Am rarely near Union Square anymore.

Here's a report from SFGate:

Woody, don't just take the shot and run
S.F. NEIGHBORHOODS Fans aim for slice of fame
Updated 9:08 p.m., Friday, August 10, 2012

Woody Allen may have been shunning the crowds Friday under his floppy khaki hat, but that didn't stop passers-by from trying to draw him out at the film set for his newest movie near San Francisco's Union Square.

"Woody! Smile for the camera!" 19-year-old Anthony Lee of Sacramento called out hopefully from across the street - after Googling the eccentric filmmaker on his phone to find out who he was and what he looked like.

The 76-year-old director, best known for films like "Annie Hall" and, more recently, "Midnight in Paris," seemed oblivious to the fans as he sat in his director's chair chatting with his crew.

Allen set up shop Friday morning outside Shreve & Co. jewelers on Post Street - and kept production assistants busy with crowd control.

Crews prepped the site for more than three hours to film what may end up being about 30 seconds in the movie. The scene? Actors Cate Blanchett and Peter Sarsgaard stepping out of a car, crossing the street and stopping to chat in front of a jewelry display case in the store.

"It can sometimes be like watching paint dry," said Marian Brubaker. "But it's also a blast. I always come watch these."

Brubaker, 78, lives in Lafayette, but drops into town to see her daughter, Debbie Brubaker, a production manager with the film crew and a member of the San Francisco Film Commission.

Brubaker had only one regret: "It's too bad Alec Baldwin's not here," she said. "He's so doggone funny."

Baldwin and comedian Louis C.K. are among others reportedly featured in the film, which tells the story of a wealthy woman who falls into financial trouble and leaves New York for San Francisco.

As the film crew crowded together under Shreve's blue awning, a crowd of up to 100 spectators tried to catch a glimpse of Allen and the actors from across the street.

Linda Begler, who lives nearby, thought seeing the slow but steady filming process would be useful for her 14-year-old grandson, Chris Begler, an aspiring actor. And Xemein Goni, 29, and Wendy Truong, 22, who work at an architecture firm up the street, stretched their five-minute break to 20 minutes.

Though the intersection is usually filled with colorful tourists, the extras on hand for the scene were mostly dressed as professionals in a palette of khaki- and gray-colored suits and other demure attire. Blanchett wore a beige dress buttoned all the way to the neck, and Sarsgaard wore a blue shirt with a khaki suit.

The film crew shot scenes earlier in the week in Belvedere, Tiburon and a winery in Larkspur, said Susannah Robbins, executive director of the San Francisco Film Commission.

Scenes set in the Ocean Beach, Pacific Heights, Marina and St. Francis Wood neighborhoods have already been filmed, Robbins said. The movie is set to shoot in the Mission, Inner Sunset and Upper Haight and also has a scene planned along Market Street in an F-line Muni trolley.

Filming in San Francisco is scheduled to wrap up at the end of the month, and parts of the movie will also be filmed in New York. Allen's last film set in San Francisco was 1972's "Play It Again, Sam."
